Based on studies conducted by Cars.com and the American University Kogod School of Business, GM vehicles are the most American-made cars, trucks, and SUVs, proving the automaker’s dedication towards stimulating the economy and creating jobs right here at home.
Cars.com looked at 91 vehicles, listing their final assembly location, the country in which the available engines and transmissions were produced, the percentage of parts from the U.S. and Canada, and the number of American employees relative to the automaker’s size.
Nine of the top 25 vehicles as determined by Cars.com were GM models, including the GMC Acadia and Canyon. That is more vehicles on the list than any other automaker.
In the Kogod School of Business study, vehicles were ranked based on their production location of major parts and the vehicle’s final assembly location. The 2020 index placed 10 GM models in the top 25, eclipsing all other brands.
That list also determined which automakers provide the most vehicles driven by the American people, and again, GM came in at No. 1.
G.M. has invested over $27 billion in the American market since 2009. The Center for Automotive Research found that GM has accounted for over 25 percent of the total investments from automakers in the U.S.
